THE CREATION OF BIOGARDE

BioGarde was developed over 10 years ago as a uniform fabric for healthcare and hospitality clients. The antimicrobial properties of silver ions were incorporated to create a fresher, more protective fabric. With the emergence of coronavirus, BioGarde was tested by experts who found it is effective against coronavirus within 2 hours.

Better still, BioGarde has tested effective after 100 washes, meaning your staff can confidently wear the same uniform for longer.

TESTING FOR CORONAVIRUS

In October 2020, BioGarde was tested by an independent lab in accordance with procedures and methods of ISO 18184:2019 — the standard test method for determining the antiviral activity of textile products against defined virus strains.

The FCoV virus testing on BioGarde textiles concluded that 2 hours after contact, the feline coronavirus had reduced by 99.46%. Separate testing on BioGarde textiles has also shown Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli had all reduced by 99.99% after 18-24 hours (the standard timing of the JIS L 1902:2008 test method). According to the World Health Organization, there are significant risks associated with using coronavirus in laboratory testing so feline coronavirus is used to represent the coronavirus strain in testing. The feline coronavirus is a surrogate virus used in laboratories as a close but safer alternative to human pathogenic strains of coronavirus.
